Dell XPS 13 Plus Review
The Dell XPS 13 Plus is probably the sleekest looking laptop of 2022. Dell adopted a sleek minimalist design that is aesthetically pleasing and light-weight. It is something that you’re probably going to love even before you think about the specs. However, how does this sleek design affect performance?
In this article I’m going to be taking an in-depth look at the Dell XPS 13 Plus Laptop
Dell XPS 13 Plus 9320 Laptop Review
What’s in the Box
The XPS 13 Plus comes in really premium packaging. Inside the box you find;
- A 60Watt Charger which is USB-C to USB-C
- USB-C to USB-A 3.0 Adapter
- A USB-C to 3.5mm headset adapter (The laptop has no headphone jack)
Ports
The XPS 13 comes with only two Thunderbolt 4. These are USB-C ports with power delivery and Display Port. They probably did this to keep the laptop as minimal as possible.
Processor
The Dell XPS 13 Plus is powered by the 12th Gen Intel Processor. This was definitely a boost in performance over its predecessor. There are different configurations of this laptop. These are;
- 12th Gen Intel Core i5 – 1240P (12MB Cache, 12 Cores 16 Threads Up to 4.40GHz Turbo)
- 12th Gen Intel Core i7 – 1260P (18MB Cache, 12 Cores 16 Threads Up to 4.70GHz Turbo)
- 12th Gen Intel Core i7 – 1280P (24MB Cache, 14 Cores 20 Threads Up to 4.80GHz Turbo)
All these are Intel Evo certified. I went with the Core i7 1260P.
Display
As the name implies, this is a 13-inch laptop. 13.4 inches to be precise. Here to, there are different screen to choose from. There’s a FHD+ 1920 x 1200 Anti-Glare, 500nits Infinity Edge (Touch and Non-Touch). There’s also a 3.5K, 3456 x 2160 OLED, Touch, Anti-Reflect 400 nits Infinity Edge. Finally, there’s a UHD, 3840 x 2400, Touch, Anti-Reflect, 500 nits, Infinity Edge. All the display have a maximum refresh rate of 60Hz.
Design and Build Quality
The XPS 13 Plus comes in two color choices; Graphite and Platinum. It weighs under 1.5Kg for all configurations. It is a beautiful looking laptop with a premium feel to it.
This sleekness and design can be attributed to the keyboard design, invisible track pad, and the internal components organization.
In addition, the laptop also has capacity function buttons similar to something like the Apple Touch Pad. These buttons also double as media controls
The Keyboard is edge-to-edge with no space on either sides. In addition, it does not have the standard key spacing. Typing on this keyboard does take some getting used to.
For example, the ‘Esc’ and ‘Delete’ keys are on either side of the touch pad.
The power button sits lower than the rest of the keys at the to right corner of the keyboard. It also doubles as the fingerprint scanner.
One of the features than makes this laptop stay clean and minimal is the invisible track pad. There are absolutely no marking to show where the track pad starts or ends. This will also take some getting used to but I didn’t find it to be much of a problem.
Conclusion
This is no doubt one of the most beautiful laptops I’ve reviewed. It combines a look official look with power and performance. I’d recommend this laptop to anyone looking for a light and compact power house that’s easy to carry and capable of just about anything you throw at it.
