I recently bought the 27-inch Sony Inzone M9 4K Gaming monitor, and in this article, I’m going to share my thoughts on it. This is Sony’s first 4K gaming monitor, and it is branded as being perfect for the PlayStation 5.

Sony Inzone M9 4K HDR Gaming Monitor Review
What’s in the Box?
Inside the box we find;
- A quick start guide
- The power cable and adapter
- The individual parts that make up the stand
- A cable management clip
- The monitor itself
The monitor does not come with any other cables like a HDMI cable which is kind. Considering the price of this monitor, they should have included some cables like HDMI and Display.
Setting up the monitor was quite easy, and it gave me no problems at all. However, I didn’t like the stand. It’s wobbly, and not sturdy enough for a monitor of this Price.You can only adjust the height up and down. There’s no tilting the monitor
Ports
The Sony Inzone M9 comes with a number of ports;
- A Display Port 1.4
- 2 HDMI 2.1 Ports
- 3 USB-A Ports
- USB Type-B for the KVM functionality
- Head Phone Jack
- USB-C Port
Features and Specs
This a 4K monitor with a refresh rate of 144Hz. It is an IPS Panel with Anti-Glare matte coating. The Sony Inzone M9 is DisplayHDR 600 certified with 96 local dimming zones for better contrast. This monitor is G-SYNC Compatible, meaning it works with both AMD and NVIDIA graphics cards. In addition, it also comes with HDMI 2.1, VRR support and 1ms response time.
You do get the 4K 120fps support if you have the hardware to utilize it. This is probably the main reason why this was branded as the PlayStation 5 monitor. Using the Display port, you can also get 4K 144Hz when using a PC.
Display
The Picture quality is really good thanks to the 96 direct dimming zones. It is an IPS display with around 1000:1 contrast in SDR and 3000:1 contrast in HDR.
Drawbacks
The one thing I really hate about this monitor is the speakers. They are probably the worst sounding speakers I’ve heard on a monitor. You’ll definitely need external speakers or headphones to enjoy gaming on this monitor.
Alternatives
Other gaming monitors with similar specs include the LG UltraGear 27GP950, and the Dough Spectrum, and the HP Omen 27u.
