This are our Top 10 PlayStation5 (PS5) Accessories

1. Extra Storage

Let’s start with a fix for arguably PlayStation5’s biggest weakness. While it’s internal storage might be fast, it fills up pretty quickly. Luckily though, it is easy to add extra storage. You can do this either by installing a fast PCI4 SSD in the internal expansion slot or by plugging in an external SSD via USB to store your PS4 native games.
An internal SSD will be the pricier option as only very fast PCI4 SSDs are recommended. You’ll also need to budget for a heat sync if it doesn’t have one in the box. Native PS5 games can only be installed in internal drives. Depending on your budget, you can get up to 4TB of additional storage. They’re really easy to install. You just pop the side panel, unscrew the slot cover, move the mounting position, plugin the drive, put it all back together, and format it.
External SSD drives are much cheaper. However, you can’t install and run native PS5 games on them. You can only back up PS5 games. This might be an advantage if you have slow internet. It might be faster to transfer a game from an SSD rather than downloading it all over again but in most cases you’ll use it to store your older PS4 games.

2. Sound

Headset

A good pair of gaming headphones is kind of a must have if you want to get the ultimate PS5 experience. Particularly if you don’t already have a good sound system. This will allow you enjoy PS5’s 3D audio tech, which let’s you accurately hear directional sounds in a kind of virtual 3d space.
Also, if you play your PS5 in an environment where you’re not alone and you don’t want to disturb the people around you, you’ll definitely want to get a good pair of headsets. Here are some of my favorite PS5 Headsets.

SONY PULSE 3D WIRELESS HEADSET

Best PlayStation 5 Accessories

I love the Sony Pulse 3D Wireless headsets for a number of reasons; they match the aesthetics of the PlayStation 5, they sound pretty good, and there are not ridiculously expensive. they do luck some adjust-ability though, and are not made as well made as some alternatives. Luckily, the 3D audio processing is done by the console, meaning you can go with your own choice of headsets and still get the effect.
For example, the SteelSeries Arctic 7P/7P+ is a better alternative that is also designed to match the PS5. It is better built, it has a more premium microphone, and plenty of adjust-ability. Personally, I think they look better than the Sony Pulse 3Ds.

Alternatively, a decent sound bar will make a huge difference to your PS5 experience.

Sound Bar

The PlayStation can also tune the 3D audio to work with a sound bar. It uses the controller’s microphone and speakers to detect where you’re sitting and it bounces the audio off the room, and it tunes the sound accordingly. Below are some of our favorite picks for soundbars. These are some of our top picks.

3. Console Covers

Best PS5 Accessories

Any ultimate PS5 setup has a right to look exactly the way you want it to look like. Whether you’re just making it a feature on display, or just blending in with the background. This is where the new console covers come in.
Official PS5 Console Covers
These are Sony’s official replacement covers side panels. They come in five new flavors, around Galaxy Nebula theme. Which one’s your favorite? Let us know in the comments. Sadly, you can’t buy a PS5 with one of these custom covers already installed. You have to buy one separately and put it on yourself. They’re pretty easy to install.
There are lots of third-party options, and you can always DIY custom paint them if you want to. However, if you want to keep everything official, get the ones from Sony.

4. Extra DualSense Controllers

To accompany your stylish new console cover, I guess it’s only right that you pair it with a matching DualSense controller. They come in the same five colors as the console covers. However, if you want something fully customized, then you can always check out Aim Controllers. Aim Controllers takes a regular dualsense and then lets you add custom thumb-sticks, designs, textures, buttons etc. It’s really up-to you to pick your favorite colors.

5. Controller Charging Station

Best PS 5 Accessories

Still on controllers, it’s always good to have a second controller on charge. While you can always use the bundled short USB cable, using that while gaming might not be ideal. This is where the DualSense Charging Station comes in. It makes charging your controllers super easy and neat. It has its own plug, which frees up a USB port on the PS5 and allows you to place it anywhere in your setup.
Again, there are some good third-party options out there which are a little bit cheaper. However, the build quality of the official charger along with lots of positive reviews make it our favorite.

6. HD Camera

Best PS5 accessories

If you stream with your console, the PS5 HD Camera is a great option for mounting on top of your TV. It’s 1080p and since we have dual lenses, you get a really smart background removal tool.

7. Lighting

Good lighting is a must have for any ultimate gaming setup. Lighting really lets you customize your setup. There are plenty of options to choose from but our favorite is the Philips Hue Play HDMI SYnc Box. It lets you display colors on the wall that match the colors on the screen/monitor. It is super easy to setup. You just plug your PS5’s HDMI cable into the box and then the bundle HDMI into your TV and the Sync box acts as a pass through analyzing the image and then making the Hue lighting reflect the in-game colors and effects. It works for games, as well as streaming, TV and Movies. The Hue Box doesn’t come with philips hue lights and you’ll have to get those separately. You’ll also need a Hue Bridge. The downside is that it is a bit expensive and does not support HDMI 2.1.
To bypass the HDMI 2.0 issue, you can alternatively go for the Govee Flow Pro systems, which are actually cheaper. It gets by the HDMI issue by using a TV mounted camera which watches what’s on screen and dynamically matches the lighting. It’s a bit ugly, but it works.

8. Racing Wheel

Best PlayStation 5 accessories

For racing games fans, a good and reliable racing wheel will really upgrade your setup and experience. The Logitech G29 is our top pick in this category. It has incredible build quality and a huge number of features to give full immersion into your favorite racing game.

9. Media Remote

Best PS5 Accessories

If you use your PS5 as a media hub, then it might be worth picking up the Sony Media Remote. It has a power button for switching the console on and dedicated streaming service buttons.

10.VR Headsets

Is Virtual Reality gaming you’re thing? If so, a VR headset is a must have. After-all, nothing beats VR headsets when it comes to immersion into a game. The PSVR 1 is worth checking out. The good news is, The PSVR 2 Headsets are coming very soon. Stick around to be notified when they’re out.
